Two faculty positions at Scripps Institution of Oceanography

Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California San Diego invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor in the fields of 1) Seismology and 2) Tectonics.

1) Assistant Professor in Seismology

We invite applicants with expertise in observational and/or analytical seismology. We are seeking a motivated, broad-thinking scientist whose research covers regional and/or global seismology who will build collaborations that complement and extend our current programs at Scripps. Your application will be evaluated on your potential for research excellence, teaching and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students, collegiality, and service towards building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment.

2) Assistant Professor in Tectonics

We seek an outstanding individual who will establish an innovative, world-class, externally funded research program in the field of tectonics. The candidate would employ observational, laboratory, experimental and/or numerical techniques to investigate tectonic processes related to the generation, evolution, and deformation of Earth’s crust and lithosphere, in the oceans or continents. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research programs include sea-going components.
