Marine Seismologist (Permanent, Full Time)

National Oceanography Centre (NOC) in Southampton (Great Britain) is seeking a marine seismologist to lead the development of marine seismology research in strategically important areas of marine geoscience. NOC is seeking to strengthen expertise in active source marine seismology, especially the application of novel high resolution seismic techniques to research questions around the sustainable use of natural resources and geohazards impacts.

You will be required to lead the design, implementation and delivery of world-class marine geoscience research and to generate external research funding. You will seek to develop appropriate partnerships with industry and other stakeholders, also meeting the UK ODA agenda. We actively encourage interaction with the wider multi-disciplinary research community both within NOC and with external UK and international researchers.

The role will involve periods at sea to conduct seafloor geophysical experiments and international travel. The role is based within the Geophysics team of the Marine Geoscience research group. This is a permanent position offered on NERC terms and conditions and is open to internal and external candidates.
