The final schedule for the September workshop of the Working Group on Seamounts and Islands near to Mid-Ocean Ridges is now available.

IR Workshop Schedule

InterRidge Workshop on Seamounts and Islands near Mid-Ocean Ridges: Provisional Schedule

The preliminary schedule for the September workshop of the Working Group on Seamounts and Islands near to Mid-Ocean Ridges held on 19-21 September 2019 in Lisbon.

1st workshop of the IR WG on MOR Islands and Seamounts - call for abstracts

The 1st international workshop organized by the InterRidge Working Group on MOR Islands and Seamounts will be held between 19 and 21 September 2019, in Lisbon (Portugal). The workshop aims to identify priority areas for research in all aspects of islands and seamounts located near to ridges, including geological, oceanographic and biological aspects. Participation in the workshop is open to anybody outside the WG and will involve an extended poster session on the first day.

Working group on mid-ocean ridge islands and seamounts - proposal

Working group on mid-ocean ridge islands and seamounts

Motivation

First workshop on seamounts and islands near the spreading centres

Working Group on Mid-Ocean Ridge Islands and Seamounts has interests spanning all science from deep (mantle) to surface (oceanographic, biological) processes on seamounts and islands near the spreading centres and welcomes involvement from anyone wishing to join the workshop. Its first workshop will be held in Lisbon (Portugal) on 19-21 September 2019. This workshop will consider the state of current science on these areas and priorities for future research.

Final Report from the Workshop of The InterRidge Working Group "Oceanic Transform Faults"

Forty-two international scientists participated in the two and a half day (22 to 24 May 2018) workshop held at the campus of the Institut Universitaire Européen de la Mer (IUEM), Plouzané, France. The meeting began with a series of keynote talks and poster presentations covering different subjects such as global characterization of transform faults and their relation to mid-oceanic ridges and different approaches to understand, discover, and model processes active at transforms and fracture zones.

Brief report from IR OTF Workshop

The first workshop of the InterRidge Working Group on Oceanic Transforms took place from 22nd to 24th May in Brest/Plouzané (France). The workshop was attended by 40 international scientists from 7 specialities. Five attendants were supported by InterRidge travel bursaries: 3 from USA, 1 from China and 1 from Germany.

Call for proposals of new InterRidge Working Groups

The InterRidge WGs play an essential role in promoting, facilitating, and coordinating new researches that focus on a theme of emerging scientific promise or are conducted in a unique geographic setting along global ridge-crests. Such researches should significantly benefit from the InterRidge coordination. A typical WG is coordinated by two co-chairs and gathers about ten active members reflecting the national and disciplinary diversity of InterRidge.

Final program of the IR OTF Workshop

Dear Participants and Speakers,

Please find enclosed a final program of the workshop.

All talks are in the first day but two on Wednesday morning.

Looking forward to meet you all in Brest, we wish a very fruitful workshop and nice time

Marcia, Barry and Daniele

InterRidge Workshop on Oceanic Transform Faults

Forty-nine scientists have registered to the InterRidge Workshop on Oceanic Transform Faults held from 22nd to 24th May 2018 in Brest/Plouzané (France). The lists of participants and of keynote speakers are on-line, please visit the workshop website to find the most important information.<--break->

First WG OTF Workshop, IUEM, Plouzané, France, 22-24 May 2018

The workshop will be held at IUEM from 22 to 24 May 2018. The institute is located at the city of Plouzané, near Brest, on the western coast of France near the entry of the Brest bay. From the Pointe du Diable (Devil’s Point) the view on the cliffs of the Brittany west coast is breathtaking! Especially in May, when the weather is often sunny and (relatively) warm.
