Spare berths - short deadlines!

1) Cruise AXIAL aboard the R/V Marcus Langseth Summer 2019

We are opening a call for the selection of current M.Sc. or Ph.D. students along with early career scientists to participate in the NSF funded project AXIAL aboard the R/V Marcus Langseth during the summer of 2019. The 33 day research cruise will allow participation in all facets of ship operation, including deployment of scientific instrumentation, keeping watch during data collection, initial onboard data processing, an onboard reading and discussion group and workshops for mapping and seismic processing. We encourage a diverse group of participants including women and demographics underrepresented in the geoscience community.

Cruise/project info and contacts in attached pdf. Deadline for applying: 1 April 2019

2) Cruise to Reykjanes Ridge aboard the R/V Neil Armstrong

This cruise is scheduled for June-July 2019 in the North Atlantic departing from and returning to Reykjavik, Iceland on the American R/V Neil Armstrong, operated by the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. The cruise is 36 days in duration and will involve primarily geophysical data acquisition (multibeam, gravity, magnetics) on the flanks of the Reykjanes Ridge to study how transform faults formed and were later eliminated from this ridge. At this point, spare berths for 2-3 interested graduate students or early career scientists who would like to gain seagoing experience, can be offered.
